Essential Functions
- Planning, developing, and putting on educational programs for the DU student body
- Developing social media and physical media campaigns that focus on sharing resources, reducing stigma, and educating about mental health
- Facilitating Mental Health Toolkit and Suicide Prevention trainings for students, staff, and faculty with the option to develop further trainings provided by the department.
- Collecting data and analyzing research to ensure each of the above responsibilities is completed within an evidence-based framework.
- Creating multiple modalities of advertisements to promote their own events and those of other team members
- Attending weekly supervisor meetings and bi-weekly team meetings
- Attending quarterly programs to support Health Promotion and Health and Counseling Center initiatives. This may involve events and programs, in-office administrative work opportunities, and staffing HCC events and/or other activities that support the promotion of resources. These events may be late at night or on weekends.
- Provide input, as available, on Health and Counseling Center processes, resources, and committees.

Required Qualifications
- Current or incoming University of Denver student in good academic standing
- The Intern for Mental Health Promotion must maintain student status throughout their entire year of service
- No active or unresolved conduct violations
- The Intern for Mental Health Promotion must remain in good conduct standing throughout their year of service
- Approved for work-study and intending to apply that award to this position
- Must be able to work an average of 12-14 hours per week and consistently fulfill all position obligations
- Availability for occasional evening and weekend programs
- Ability to serve for the full 2025-2026 academic year
- If you are studying abroad during the 2025-2026 academic year, we cannot consider you for the position.
Preferred Qualifications
- Current or incoming student in the Graduate School of Social Work at DU looking to fill their foundation or concentration year placement with this position
- Bachelor’s degree in psychology, social work, sociology, human services, or similar fields
Working Environment
- Standard classroom or office environment.
- Unexpected interruptions occur often, and stress level is moderate to high.
- Noise level is quiet to moderate.
Physical Activities
- Ability to sit or stand in front of a computer for an extended period.
- Occasionally required to move around campus with the capability of transporting objects up to 20 lbs.
Hours & Compensation
- 12-14 hours per week for a total of 400 hours over the course of the year, at $18.81/hour.
- A work study award is required for this position.
- Position can be renewed on a year-to-year basis.
