Objective

We are seeking a highly analytical and strategic individual to serve as a right-hand partner to the CEO of a clinical-stage oncology company. The ideal candidate will bring a blend of top-tier management consulting experience, strong financial and operational modeling capabilities, and comfort working in fast-paced, high-stakes environments.

This role is ideal for someone who thrives at the intersection of data and strategy – able to synthesize complex information, develop clear executive visuals, design strategic processes, and support cross-functional business planning efforts.

This is a 4-month consulting engagement, with the potential for longer-term conversion based on fit and business need.

Essential Functions

  • Serve as a thought partner to the CEO and senior leadership on key strategic initiatives, particularly those related to clinical development, partnerships, and operational scale-up.
  • Develop and maintain integrated strategic and financial models to support decision-making across R&D, clinical, regulatory, and commercial domains.
  • Create clear and compelling executive-level visuals and presentations to drive alignment across the leadership team, board, and external partners.
  • Support process development and mapping across critical workflows to drive executional clarity and operating rhythm.
  • Partner closely with stakeholders across functions (e.g., Finance, Corporate Development, Program Management) to gather inputs, pressure-test assumptions, and build consensus.
  • Conduct rapid analyses to support ongoing strategic questions, including scenario planning, prioritization frameworks, and resource modeling.
  • Be on-site as needed (potentially up to 80% travel), working closely with the CEO and executive team.

Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

Education / Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree (MBA, M.S., PhD) preferred.
  • 3+ years of experience in top-tier strategy consulting (e.g., McKinsey, BCG, Bain, Oliver Wyman) or healthcare-focused advisory roles.
  • Prior experience supporting C-level executives with high-visibility deliverables and tight timelines.
  • Familiarity with biotech/pharmaceutical industry, preference given for experience in oncology, medical imaging, or rare diseases. Experience working with or advising early- to mid-stage biotech companies, especially those preparing for growth or inflection points preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience leading or supporting M&A, corporate strategy, or operating model design in a biotech or MedTech environment.
  • Exceptional Excel and PowerPoint skills; able to independently develop integrated models and translate insights into compelling narratives.
  • Comfort working in a highly dynamic, early-stage company environment with limited structure.

Knowledge / Skill / Ability

  • Organizational design & process development – Understanding of functional workflows, organizational scaling, and strategic planning in high-growth companies.
  • Strategic thinking – Ability to synthesize complex data into actionable insights and link near-term execution to long-term company goals.
  • Executive communication – Strong written and verbal communication, with the ability to prepare clear, compelling slides and narratives for board-level audiences.
  • Project management – Skilled at managing multiple workstreams simultaneously, including setting priorities, timelines, and deliverables.
  • Collaboration & stakeholder management – Effective at building relationships and facilitating cross-functional alignment, especially under time pressure.
  • Operate independently – Capable of managing ambiguity and delivering with minimal oversight in a fast-paced, startup-like environment.
  • Translate strategy into execution – Comfortable bridging the gap between vision and operational detail, including designing and implementing processes.
  • Travel and adapt – Willingness and ability to travel up to 80%, including frequent on-site time with the CEO and executive team.
  • Work under pressure – Ability to deliver high-quality outputs with short timelines and shifting priorities.
  • Assess and adapt – Strong situational awareness and ability to tailor approaches to the company’s stage, leadership style, and evolving needs.
